Question from: A killerwhale fan
How much weigh the biggest killerwhale in the world?
Answer:
There haven't been many killerwhales that have actually been weighed, except for captive ones (and they're probably overweight from sitting around in the pool all day!). From captive whale data, there was a male 6.75 m that weighed 5660 kg. The maximum length measured for males in the wild, that is reported in the literature is 9.0 m. Having said that, the largest I have measured on our coast (Pacific Ocean) is 7.0 m. I suspect there is a fair amount of variability between populations and types of killerwhales around the world. Hope this is of some help.
